Email Marketing Campaign - How To Reach Potential Customers

by Jonathan Drake

An autoresponder is an automatic email response software or application. In short, it is an automatic email sent to someone in response to some action. A good quality autoresponder will allow you to send more than one email at specific intervals. They will even allow those emails to include custom information such as names, dates, times, etc. There are many different autoresponder companies to choose from. Aweber and Getresponse are just a few of the industry leaders.

The aim of Email marketing is to promote products and services via email. Email marketing is one of the most effective means to promote brand awareness and establish a relationship with your customers over time. Research has shown that the average person needs to see your ad over 7 times before they are confident enough to make a purchase. An effective email marketing campaign not only accomplishes this but can also convert your one-time-buyer into a long term customer.

When you first develop your email marketing campaign, focus on your main goals and objectives. Are you targeting new customers, retaining current customers, or developing stronger relationships and repeat sales? Does your campaign involve giving useful information or are you looking for a response? Your clear objectives help to reach your initial goal and your audience will see the message you are conveying when it is broadcast.

Web-based email marketing requires your email content to be as short and simple as possible. Most people don't find lengthy emails appealing to read or open. Sending attachments should also be avoided as people are cautious of viruses and downloading any files they aren't familiar with.

Try to avoid crafting emails that include complicated HTML, as spam filters are more likely to pick these up and discard them into a junk mail folder that will never be viewed. A successful email marketing campaign will include sending personalized emails. Make sure that the 'to' and 'from' slots of the email use your name and the recipient's name, rather than the names of your respective companies. Doing so will make it more likely that your emails will be opened and read; as a general rule, people open mail that is addressed directly to them or come from someone they know.

In order to get your target audience to stop and look at your email message, you must come up with an attention-getting phrase for its subject line. Without one, they won't even bother to click on it and your email marketing campaign certainly won't be successful. Keep in mind when you are composing the phrase that it should have no more than 40 characters.

A good autoresponder will give you the ability to place an opt-in box on your web site by cutting and pasting a simple piece of code. They will then be sent an email in which they will be required to confirm that they do in fact want to receive information from you. This is called "opting in" and is not only important, it is often illegal to send information otherwise.

Not sure which Autoresponder is right for you?
