The Kind Of Amount The Dell Laser 1110 Toner Cartridges Offers

by Frank Dekelli

The Dell 1110 printer is an entry-level laser machine using the Dell Laser 1110 cartridges introduced at around $100. It is about the size of large toaster, which makes it perfect for small houses or apartments. In order to use it, you have to unfold its paper tray. This printer is susceptible to dust because it has no cover. If you fold the paper tray back, you would need to store the paper somewhere else.

There are only two LEDs in the Dell 1110 printer. One is for the power and the other is for any problems, like paper jams or cartridge errors. It also has one button that you can use to cancels the current printing job. The machine can only be connected through USB, which is problem for some because they have used all the available ports.

The Dell 1110 printer was able to print 17 pages in a minute, which is good considering its price. Although, it does lack the automatic duplex feature that most of us take advantage of. Grayscale documents that contain some graphics can be printed around 5 pages a minute. The machine is also able to get a maximum resolution of 600 dpi.

The device has a monthly duty cycle of 8,000 pages, which is highly respectable for a printer in its class. The paper tray can handle a maximum of 150 sheets. The maximum size of the paper it can print on is 8.5" x 14" and it accepts various sizes of envelopes.

The printer is bundled with a 1,000 page yield Dell bulk toner. However, if the package does not include the USB cable, you would need to buy it separately for around $35. The machine does not have any networking capability, since it has no Ethernet port.

It is powered by a 150 MHz processor with 2MB of RAM. Unfortunately, the RAM is not upgradable. This is going to make printing heavy documents very slow. Printing graphics is going to take a lot of time because of small memory. You are going to need a lot of patience if you plan to use this for printing a lot of graphics.

Dell's Toner Management application can monitor and alert you if the toner needs to be replenished. The utility CD even includes additional software that can monitor the printer's status thoroughly.

The bundled software supports Microsoft Widows ME, 2000, XP, and Vista. For Windows 7 users, you have to download the software from Dell's website. Like other Dell printers, it does not support Linux and Mac operating systems. The company did not develop any software to run on these operating systems.

The Dell 1110 printer is an affordable printer, which offers basic printing features. Printing cost is also something you might reconsider like the costs for ink and toner. The average print costs around 3.3 cents, which is a bit expensive for a laser printer. It is still cheaper than most inkjet printers are, but it device lacks some of the features that we look forward to. Especially, for consistant printing you will want to make sure you have Dell bulk toner on hand, you would not want to run out of Dell Laser 1110 printer toner cartridge for that last minute work document. You might consider spending more money for a laser printer that can provide cheaper printing cost. However, this printer is perfect for people who prints occasionally, but does not want to spend a fortune for a laser printer.
